Luck vs Smarts?

Luck vs Smarts?

I am truly honored to be selected as Asia’s Top CEO for 2017 by both Deloitte and Influential Brands. To be frank, this award came as a complete shock and surprise. I don’t work for recognition or awards. I work because it is an expression of my soul, and because I want to change the world for the better. That being said, I am full of gratitude and appreciation for every blessing in life. I had no clue that such an award existed, let alone ever thought that I deserved to win anything for doing what I love.

It is humbling to stand with my fellow CEOs who have won this prestigious award in the past: Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi; CEO of ThaiBev, George Quek; Chairman of BreadTalk Group, Anthony Tan; Co-Founder and CEO of Grab, Michael Tan; Co-Founder and Group CEO of Fullerton Healthcare Corporation, Richard Eu; CEO of Eu Yan Sang International, David Chiem; Founder, CEO and Chairman of Mindchamps Holdings, Alain Ong; CEO of Pokka International, and many others.

However, the truth is that I stand on the shoulders of the great men and women of Team ONE. They deserve all of the credit for our achievements. Without a doubt, Team ONE is the world’s greatest sports media team. Thank you to my team at ONE Championship for your passion, excellence, and inspiration in pushing our dream forward together! I am blessed to serve you as your leader.

If there is anything that I have learned from my journey, it is that luck plays a big role in life. However, luck is not blind. I believe that integrity, hard work, kindness, and resilience together often create good luck. If you do your best every day, and you also help others, good things are bound to happen. So dream big. Do good. And chase your greatness!
