Majulah Singapura!

Majulah Singapura!

I’m thrilled to welcome Singapore’s first Olympic Gold Medalist Joseph Isaac Schooling into the ONE Championship family! For me, this partnership is personal. Over the last 18 months or so, I’ve had the precious opportunity to spend time with Joseph and his parents (Colin and May) on multiple occasions. Coincidentally, they were all big fans of ONE Championship and Angela Lee even before we met. In fact, the first time I met May, she ran up to me, gave me the biggest hug, and congratulated me for being a good son to my mother. She had been following my life story on TV. Of course, I had read up a lot on Joseph’s story too, and I congratulated May for her incredible love and sacrifice in helping her son achieve his Olympic dreams together with Colin. Naturally, May and I ended up hitting it off right away, laughing and trading war stories from our respective journeys in life. Funnily enough, May and my mom eventually met at the Singapore Indoor Stadium at one of our events; and they gave each other a big hug and sang praises effusively to each other. I guess that’s what super moms do when they meet!

I vividly remember my first lunch with Joseph, Colin, and May after he won the Olympics. Of course, their family story is one of defying impossible odds, conquering incredible adversity, and achieving amazing dreams together. However, I was most impressed by their love, humility, grace, and strength as individuals and as a family. They are truly wonderful human beings with hearts of gold. I can also tell you that Joseph is the real deal in and out of the swimming pool as an athlete and as a human being. After that lunch, I remember thinking to myself that I wanted to support Joseph somehow in the future. And so today, I feel truly blessed that the opportunity to do something together is here.

Without a doubt, this partnership between ONE Championship and Joseph is a symbol of Singapore’s strength, values, and power. Both Joseph and ONE Championship were humbly born on the Little Red Dot only to make history as giants on the global stage of sports. And just as Joseph is Singapore’s pride and joy, ONE Championship is a celebration of Asia’s greatest cultural treasure, and its deep-rooted Asian values of integrity, humility, honor, respect, discipline, courage, and compassion. With our shared values and common vision, Joseph and ONE Championship together will continue to celebrate values, ignite dreams, inspire nations, and change the world. #gratitude
